Philadelphia led 42-28 in the second quarter and 77-68 after three. Anfernee Simons scored 21 off the bench.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 11 in the fourth, and Jalen Brunson's step-back three put New York up 90-89 with 1:32 left.

James hit a fadeaway for the lead, VJ Edgecombe added a three, and James tipped in a Maxey miss with 11.9 seconds left.

Brunson scored 24 on 8-of-22 shooting and Towns had 22 points and 12 rebounds. The Knicks made 13 of 41 threes.

Philadelphia visits Charlotte on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET. New York hosts Brooklyn on Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
