Dundon returns to Portland as Moda Center lease deadline nears

Oct 14, 2026

Dundon is back

Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon sat courtside for Monday's preseason win after a day of meetings with legislative and business leaders.

The arena problem

Moda Center opened in 1995 and its lease runs through 2030. Adam Silver has called it bottom-tier among league buildings.

Nearly $600 million

The state's share is about $365 million in bonding, with the city weighing roughly $120 million and the county up to about $101.6 million.

The year-end deadline

The state bonds unlock only if the team and local governments agree on a long-term lease by the end of the year.

Next stop: opening night

Sharper talks are expected when Dundon returns for the Oct. 21 opener against the Suns.
