The deal with the reigning CBA champions, announced Oct. 10, is NBA China's first partnership of its kind with a CBA club.

NBA China will help coordinate training, development resources and international programs for promising Jiushi players.

The club can join NBA events in China and Asia, and its coaches get support from international specialists.

Club executives will visit the United States to meet league and team staff on the basketball and business sides.

The NBA played its first regular-season game in China in Shanghai in October 2004.
