Kerr ‘leaning towards’ Curry, Podziemski, Santos, Lendeborg and Green

The opening-night five
Asked if Curry, Podziemski, Santos, Lendeborg and Green will start the regular season, Steve Kerr barely hedged: “I’m leaning towards it.”
Why Horford comes off the bench
Al Horford, 40, is being held to about 20 minutes a night. “It’s just a lot easier to bring him off the bench,” Kerr said.
Two defensive anchors
Kerr wants “Draymond or Al on the court as often as possible to anchor our defense.” That leaves Green, 36, at center; Kristaps Porziņģis remains out indefinitely.
Size without a true center
“With the fact that we have Yaxel now, you’d get a 6-10 guy next to [Green],” Kerr said. Add Santos and “it doesn’t feel as small as in the past couple years. But it’s not ideal.”
It has worked so far
In the 124-98 win over the Lakers on Oct. 6, all five starters were plus-12 or better. Against Sacramento on Oct. 10, Lendeborg had 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Turnovers, then opening night
Kerr says the Warriors had about 90 turnovers through four games: “But now is the time.” Golden State hosts Portland on Friday and opens Oct. 21 at the Lakers.
