Orlando Magic forward Noah Penda is expected to miss "significant time" after suffering a partially torn right hamstring during Friday's preseason finale against Miami, according to reporter Jason Beede.
No recovery timetable has been set, and Penda's return will depend on his response to treatment.
The 21-year-old small forward also dealt with a hamstring injury in training camp. It had fully healed and affected a different part of the same right hamstring, Beede adds.
Penda appeared in 59 games as a rookie, averaging 3.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 12.8 minutes per night on .404/.323/.688 shooting. He was selected with the 32nd pick in the 2025 draft and is making $2.15 million this season.
The Magic are also evaluating the condition of Franz Wagner, who left Friday's game midway through the third quarter with soreness in his right shoulder, according to Beede. Injuries limited the 25-year-old forward to a career-low 34 games last season.
Second-year guard Jase Richardson, who tweaked his back during the game, is considered day-to-day with low back soreness.
There is no indication yet on the status of Wagner or Richardson for the season opener Wednesday night against Atlanta.
