Anthony Edwards went first overall in 2020 and LaMelo Ball went third. On June 25, 2026, a four-team trade made them teammates in Minnesota.

Minnesota sent Naz Reid, an unprotected 2033 first, three first-round swaps and three second-rounders to Charlotte, and got Ball and Josh Green back.

Edwards averaged a career-high 28.8 points in 61 games last season, with 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals, shooting 48.9 percent and 39.9 percent from three.

Ball played 72 games for Charlotte, averaging 20.1 points and 7.1 assists. His 272 threes ranked second in the league as the Hornets went from 19 wins to 44.

The Wolves open at Miami on Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. Between them, Edwards and Ball scored 48.9 points a game last season.
