The diagnosis

An MRI showed a strained left calf for Kings center Dylan Cardwell. He will be out for at least two weeks.

Opener in doubt

Sacramento opens on Oct. 21 against the Clippers. Cardwell is unlikely to be ready and could miss more time.

Thin at center

Maxime Raynaud is also out at least two weeks with a right patellar subluxation, so both reserve centers are sidelined.

Who steps up

Domantas Sabonis carries the load. Precious Achiuwa and two-way forward Jonathan Mogbo could get more minutes behind him.
