The story

Charlotte Hornets wing Kon Knueppel made 273 threes in 2025-26, becoming the first rookie ever to lead the NBA in total three-pointers made.

A one-make race

Teammate LaMelo Ball finished one behind at 272. Luka Dončić (254), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (251) and Jamal Murray (245) rounded out the top five.

The shooting line

Knueppel played 81 games and hit 3.4 threes a night on 42.5 percent shooting (273-of-642), averaging about 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

A new rookie record

The previous rookie mark was Keegan Murray’s 206 for Sacramento in 2022-23. Knueppel cleared it by 67 threes.

Rare company

Only three rookies have averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from three: Larry Bird, Paul Pierce and Knueppel.
