Mitch Johnson started De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper together, and San Antonio beat Phoenix 123-103 at Frost Bank Center.

'I understand the narrative around it,' Johnson said. 'They're three of our better players.'

Harper and Castle missed their first five shots, but the Spurs led 60-49 at halftime. The trio had 31 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the first half.

Castle scored a game-high 18 with 14-of-15 free throws. Victor Wembanyama had 19 points and four blocks in 23 minutes.

The Spurs close preseason Friday and open the regular season Oct. 20 against Oklahoma City.
