Out at Miami too

ClutchPoints’ Erik Slater reported Jefferson will not play Wednesday’s preseason finale at the Heat because of a back injury.

Zero preseason games

The ruling means the June No. 28 pick finishes the exhibition schedule without appearing in a single game.

Stiff lower back since camp

Coach Jordi Fernández described a stiff lower back from the opening days of camp; Jefferson sat Charlotte, Philadelphia and Washington.

No serious label yet

No return date has been reported, and Brooklyn has not described the injury as more than back stiffness.

Opener still Oct. 21

The Nets open the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 21, against the Charlotte Hornets at Barclays Center.
