38 boards in 71 minutes

Through 53 preseason games, Spurs rookie Tarris Reed Jr. leads the league with 38 total rebounds across four games. That is 19.3 per 36 minutes.

The 17-rebound night

At Utah on Oct. 12, Reed grabbed 17 rebounds (eight offensive) with four steals in 24 minutes off the bench. Ten came in the first half.

Not satisfied

'Could have easily walked away with 20, 25 rebounds, so I got to be better,' Reed said, adding that Dan Hurley would have been yelling at him.

The chasers

Charles Bassey has 35, Yaxel Lendeborg and Joan Beringer 33 each, and Nick Richards and Kel'el Ware 31. Reed needed the fewest minutes.

Making his case

The No. 26 pick, 23 years old, came from UConn. Behind Victor Wembanyama, the glass is where he is earning backup minutes.
