Donovan Clingan led the NBA in total rebounds and offensive boards in 2025-26

PORTLAND — Oct. 15, 2026 — Donovan Clingan finished 2025-26 as the NBA’s total-rebounds leader with 892 boards in 77 games for the Trail Blazers, per Basketball-Reference. He also led the league in offensive rebounds (347) and offensive rebounds per game (4.5). Nikola Jokić still took the per-game rebounding title at 12.9, so the season produced two different rebound champions depending on which board you read.

Clingan’s total edged Karl-Anthony Towns by three (889) and Rudy Gobert by 20 (872). Jokić finished fourth in total rebounds with 836 despite leading the average, because he played only 65 games. Clingan started all 77 and averaged 11.6 rebounds in 27.2 minutes.

Clingan’s 347 offensive rebounds also led the year-by-year offensive-rebound leaders list, ahead of Zubac’s 300 the season before. His offensive rebound percentage (17.7) and total rebound percentage (23.1) both ranked first league-wide.

Second chances as a season identity

The glass work was not a side note. Clingan piled up 545 defensive rebounds to go with those 347 on the offensive end, and he blocked 130 shots (fourth in the league). He scored 12.1 points on .520 shooting and posted a 20.9 player efficiency rating in his second NBA season after Portland drafted him seventh overall in 2024 out of UConn.

The official league account captured the style in December: an offensive rebound finished with an and-one that closed a Blazers win.

Two titles, two stories

Jokić’s 12.9 rebounds per game paired with his league-leading 10.7 assists to make him the first player to lead the NBA in both categories in the same season. Clingan’s total and offensive boards tell the other side of the same year: availability, second chances, and a young center who finished ahead of Towns, Gobert and Jokić on the raw rebounding ledger.

On the Basketball-Reference year-by-year total-rebounds leaders list, Clingan is the first Trail Blazer to appear. Bill Walton won the 1976-77 rebounds-per-game title for Portland; the total-rebounds crown in 2025-26 went to the Moda Center’s second-year center.

Clingan heads into 2026-27 as the defending total-rebounds and offensive-rebounds champion. The regular season opens October 20.
