Draymond Green signed a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors in free agency this summer, which means he will become an unrestricted free agent again in the 2027 offseason. He told Alex Sherman of CNBC that he hopes to finish his career in Golden State, and that he wants to play beyond this season whether or not that happens.

“I would love to retire a Golden State Warrior. However, I’m also not Steph Curry, right? So I don’t have every luxury that Steph Curry has, and that’s okay,” Green said, alluding to the Warriors’ willingness to sign Curry to as many years and dollars as they could legally offer this offseason. “It’s such a rare thing to be on one team your entire career. And if I can accomplish that feat, I would love to.”

“I would love to play basketball next year…if that’s not here, I’m not going to retire,” he added.

Green has played for Golden State since entering the NBA in 2012. The Warriors have extended Curry and Brandin Podziemski in the past month and still project to have significant salary cap room next July, so the front office could go in several directions with its roster. Green said he would not harbor any “ill feelings” toward the Warriors if they decide he is not part of the future plans. “I’m extremely grateful for the journey that I’ve been on here,” he said.
