Atlanta and Charlotte completed the trade sending Dorian Finney-Smith to the Hawks for Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard and cash. Both clubs announced the exchange on September 22. The Hornets’ release identifies all three players and the cash consideration; Atlanta’s announcement explicitly describes the trade as completed.

Atlanta changes its mix of roles

The player count is two out and one in for Atlanta. Hoops Rumors had described the agreement as a response to a crowded roster. That arithmetic helps explain the move, but it cannot tell us which combinations will work or who will close games.
