Jaren Jackson Jr. had 24 points and 10 rebounds, rookie Darryn Peterson made the go-ahead free throws with 50.5 seconds left, and the Utah Jazz held off the New Orleans Pelicans 120-119 in their home opener in Salt Lake City on Friday night. Keyonte George recorded a double-double for Utah.

New Orleans lost Yves Missi to a left knee injury midway through the second quarter. Zion Williamson’s shot was blocked by Jaxson Hayes and Williamson fell into Missi’s leg; the center grabbed his knee immediately, could not put weight on it and was carried off the court. Coach Jamahl Mosley said Missi will be reevaluated on Saturday in Denver, with Derik Queen in line to start if Missi misses time and Karlo Matkovic among the candidates for more minutes.

The Pelicans fell to 0-2, with both losses by one possession. More on Missi and Saturday’s other statuses: Saturday NBA injury report.
