Jaylen Brown had an answer Saturday night for Jayson Tatum’s attempt to shut down their public back-and-forth: no beef, but maybe some lamb chops.

Asked after the Philadelphia 76ers’ 127-116 win over the Milwaukee Bucks about Tatum’s Friday comments, Brown told reporters: “We’ve accomplished some great things. He’s a hell of a basketball player. He’s got a great PR team. There’s no beef but it might be a little lamb chops and some gravy. He should stay ready at all times.”

Pressed on what that meant, Brown did not back off. “It’s just basketball. We both blessed. But it might be a little lamb chop. We’ll be alright,” he said. Asked whether he would sit down with Tatum, he went back to the same line: “Jayson’s a great guy. Like I said, great family. Hell of a basketball player, hell of a PR team. There’s no beef. A little lamb chop.” ESPN reported.

Tatum said Friday there was “no animosity or beef or ill will” toward Brown, that “this ain’t no [expletive] Shaq and Kobe,” and that he called and texted Brown the day of the trade. The dispute started when Brown answered Tatum’s claim that he did not know about the trade with a cap emoji.

Brown marked his 30th birthday with 27 points in Saturday’s win over the Bucks, which kept Philadelphia unbeaten at 3-0. The Celtics host the 76ers on Nov. 10 in the first meeting between the teams this season.
