The NBA named Victor Wembanyama of San Antonio the Western Conference Player of the Week and Jayson Tatum of Boston the Eastern Conference winner on Monday, for games from October 26 through November 1.

Wembanyama, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, led the Spurs to a 3-0 week with wins over Sacramento, Utah and Minnesota. He averaged 36.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.0 steals and 4.3 blocks in 33.3 minutes per game, shooting 56.7 percent from the field.

Tatum, who missed most of last season with a torn Achilles, led the Celtics to a 4-0 week with two wins over Chicago and one each over Brooklyn and Orlando. He averaged 30.3 points, 7.0 assists and 5.8 rebounds in 34.8 minutes per game and hit a game-winner in overtime against the Nets.

Memphis guard Ty Jerome and Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey won the awards for the season’s first week. Monday’s other nominees were Sacramento’s Darius Acuff Jr., Golden State’s Stephen Curry, the Lakers’ Luka Doncic and Dallas’ Cooper Flagg in the West, and Miami’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Toronto’s Scottie Barnes, Maxey and Cleveland’s Evan Mobley in the East.
