The regular season tips off on Tuesday, and the team accounts spent the final weekend of the preseason building toward it. The Celtics and Pistons meet at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday, October 20,, while the Heat host Minnesota and the Mavericks visit the Rockets on Wednesday, October 21. These seven official clips show what each club wants its fans looking at first.

Boston starts the clock

The Celtics went with a plain countdown, and the timing says enough: their first test is a road game in Detroit, not a soft home opener. Boston returns home to face the Knicks on Friday, so the opening week asks a lot of a roster still settling its rotation.

Hugo Gonzalez finds his shot

The club singled out Hugo Gonzalez for his ten made threes across the preseason. For a young wing fighting for minutes, a reliable outside shot is what turns spot minutes into a steady role.

Detroit says it is “running it back”

The Pistons framed Tuesday as a continuation rather than a fresh start, which tells you the club believes in the group it already has. Opening at home against Boston gives J.B. Bickerstaff an immediate read on whether his deeper bench holds up against a contender.

Cade Cunningham’s 42 in Boston

Detroit also reached back for Cade Cunningham‘s 42-point night in Boston last season. It is a reminder that their star has already carried them to a big result against this opponent, and the obvious tone-setter for Tuesday.

Miami’s countdown ends at Minnesota

The Heat’s clip points straight at Wednesday night at Kaseya Center against the Timberwolves. It is a demanding first assignment: Minnesota arrives with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, and Miami heads straight into a home game with Detroit on Friday.

Kyrie Irving back on the Dallas floor

The Mavericks’ clip of Kyrie Irving working on his home court carries more weight than a routine shootaround. Having their lead guard healthy and in rhythm changes what Dallas can be, and his first regular-season test comes in Houston.

Reed Sheppard in year three

Houston’s choice to spotlight Reed Sheppard is a hint about his role. A third-year guard with more freedom gives Ime Udoka another ball handler and shooter, and Wednesday’s game against Dallas is the first chance to see how much the Rockets trust him.

What comes next

Boston at Detroit opens the slate on Tuesday, October 20 (Game Center). On Wednesday, October 21, Minnesota visits Miami (Game Center) and Dallas visits Houston (Game Center).
