Three games, three very different nights. The Pistons came back from 22 points down with a 23-0 fourth-quarter run against the Celtics. The Knicks raised their championship banner and then lost to LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and the new-look 76ers. And the Thunder won their rematch with the Spurs in San Antonio. Here are the clips from Tuesday’s opening night that tell the story best, each with a quick note on what you are watching.

Detroit’s 23-0 run, start to finish

This is the whole thing, uncut, about eight minutes of it. Boston led 99-89 with 8:19 to play. Then Duncan Robinson hit back-to-back threes and three free throws, Javonte Green put the Pistons in front for good at 101-99, and Green’s own fifth three capped it at 112-99 with 3:33 left. Detroit had trailed by 22 in the third quarter and won 121-113. Video: @NBA on X.

Ausar Thompson’s 360 layup

Ten seconds, and it’s worth watching more than once. Thompson spins all the way around in the air on his way to the rim and still lays it in. It was one of the plays people were still talking about the morning after Detroit’s comeback. Video: @NBA on X.

Paul George’s second quarter in green

Before the collapse, George was the story. He scored 12 points in the second quarter of his first Celtics game, moved into eighth place on the all-time list for made threes, and Boston led 58-45 at halftime. He went on to finish with 38 points in the loss. Video: @NBA on X.

Brunson thanks the Garden for staying through Game 4

The Knicks captain took the microphone before the banner went up and opened with a joke, thanking the fans who did not leave early in Game 4 of last season’s Finals. The crowd loved it. It is under a minute long and very much worth the time. Video: @NBA on X.

The full ring ceremony and banner raising

If you missed it live, here is the whole pregame ceremony at Madison Square Garden: every ring presentation, the players walking out one at a time, and the first Knicks championship banner in 53 years going up to the rafters. Video: NBA Europe on YouTube.

One banner at the Garden, another in Times Square

The Knicks’ own 37-second video follows the banner in two places: up into the rafters inside the arena, and on the giant screens in Times Square at the same moment. Video: @nyknicks on X.

Brown throws it up, LeBron throws it down

The 76ers’ caption keeps it simple, and the clip explains why. Jaylen Brown, in his first game since the trade from Boston, lobs it to LeBron James for a dunk at the Garden. James finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in the first game of his NBA-record 24th season, and Philadelphia won 106-100. Video: @sixers on X.

Jaylen Brown beats the third-quarter buzzer

This three with 1.5 seconds left in the third quarter, set up by James, finished an 11-0 run and put the Sixers up 83-76. Brown scored 10 of his 19 points in that quarter and was plus-17 on the night. Video: @NBA on X.

Stephon Castle plays on with one shoe

A fun one from the late game in San Antonio. Castle scores a layup to cut the Thunder lead to seven, loses a shoe, and keeps going anyway, helping the Spurs get a stop at the other end in his sock. Video: @NBA on X.

Aday Mara’s first NBA game

The Thunder rookie, the 12th overall pick, introduced himself with a block at the rim and a two-handed alley-oop dunk in the third quarter. Oklahoma City beat the team that knocked it out of last season’s playoffs 116-104, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring a game-high 32. Video: @NBA on X.
