The Washington Wizards beat the Chicago Bulls 124-120 at the United Center on Saturday, October 24, spoiling Chicago’s home opener with a 40-20 third quarter and then holding on at the free-throw line. Rookie Caleb Wilson carried the Bulls with 30 points and 14 rebounds, while Trae Young led Washington with 25 points, nine assists and a perfect 9-for-9 at the line. These are the moments the two clubs and the league posted from the night.

Game Center: Wizards at Bulls, box score and play-by-play

Caleb Wilson runs ahead for a one-handed jam

Chicago led 62-57 at halftime and Wilson already had a game-high 17. Plays like this one, beating everybody down the floor after a stop, were how the Bulls built their early 10-point cushion.

Matas Buzelis hammers it home

Buzelis was the second engine of Chicago’s offense, finishing with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting. This dunk came while the Bulls still controlled the first half.

Alex Sarr answers at the rim

Sarr needed only seven shots for 10 points and added three of Washington’s seven blocks, a 7-1 edge that kept the Bulls from living in the paint.

Bilal Coulibaly’s poster

Coulibaly scored only seven points, but this is the play people will remember from his night. The slam fit a Washington team that outscored Chicago 35 to 28 in two-point makes.

Wilson and Buzelis hit back-to-back threes

Down 21 early in the fourth, the Bulls clawed back with a 10-0 run and kept coming. Back-to-back threes from their two young forwards turned a comfortable finish into a one-possession game for the Wizards.

The ending: 30 for Wilson, free throws for Young

Wilson scored seven points in the last 1:25, the first 30-point game and first double-double of his career, but Washington made its free throws. Young went 4-for-4 in the final seconds to seal the Wizards’ second win in three games.
