Tobi Lawal scored 16 and went 8-of-8 at the line in Dallas' 101-97 preseason loss to New Orleans before fouling out late.

'I was pissed. But I didn't even know I had five fouls at the same time, so, apparently I'm a hack,' Lawal said afterward.

He drew Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III and said he wants to be the best defender he can be: 'I'm not there yet, but hopefully one day I am.'

Dusty May called him a competitor and hard worker whose awareness keeps improving, especially putting pressure on the rim as a cutter.

Sergio de Larrea says Lawal keeps asking for lobs. Dallas closes the preseason Friday at home vs. Atlanta.
