The Grizzlies have exercised rookie scale team options for the 2027-28 season on Zach Edey and Cedric Coward, the team announced Tuesday. Edey’s fourth-year option is worth $8.07 million. Coward’s third-year option is worth $6.29 million.

Edey played just 11 games last season after two procedures on his left ankle, the first in June 2025 and the second in March. When he was on the floor, the 7-foot-3 center averaged 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 25.8 minutes per game. He becomes eligible for a rookie scale extension in July 2027 and would reach restricted free agency in 2028 if he does not sign a new deal first.

Coward, 23, made the All-Rookie first team after Memphis traded up to No. 11 to take him in the 2025 draft. The 6-foot-5 wing appeared in 62 games with 47 starts, averaging 13.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting .471/.338/.843. The Grizzlies have until Nov. 1, 2027 to decide on his fourth-year option, worth $8.34 million for 2028-29.

Memphis entered the preseason with three players holding rookie scale team options. The club waived the third, Walter Clayton Jr., earlier this week, so his option is void.
