Scroll through Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s record 141 straight games of 20 or more points: where it began in Portland, the 2025 title run, the night he passed Wilt Chamberlain’s 126, what the streak looked like by the numbers and the 17-point win over Denver that ended it.

Two nights later, in the Thunder’s fifth game of the season, he scored 30 in a 137-114 win at Portland. That was game one. He would not score fewer than 20 in a regular-season game again for almost two years.
The streak ran from Nov. 1, 2024, to Oct. 20, 2026: 72 games in 2024-25, 68 in 2025-26 and one more on opening night this season.

He led the league at 32.7 points a game, the first Canadian to win a scoring title, and the Thunder finished 68-14, the best record in franchise history.
He was named MVP, then Finals MVP after the Thunder beat Indiana 103-91 in Game 7 of the 2025 Finals. He became the fourth player to win MVP, Finals MVP and the scoring title in the same season, after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal.
The streak only counts regular-season games, so the playoff run did not touch it. It went into the summer at 72.
Wilt Chamberlain with the Lakers, March 1971. Photo by Bill Varie, UCLA Library, CC-BY-4.0, resized. The record belonged to Wilt Chamberlain: 126 straight games of 20 or more from October 1961 to January 1963, a run that covered the season of his 100-point game. It ended on Jan. 20, 1963, when he played only four minutes against the St. Louis Hawks.
The 2025-26 season opened with 35 in a double-overtime win over Houston and a career-high 55 two nights later against Indiana, again in double overtime.

The Thunder went 116-25 in those games, a .823 winning percentage. In 2025-26 he won a second straight MVP, averaged 31.1 points and was named Clutch Player of the Year.
Two nights after scoring 32 at San Antonio for game 141, he could not find the rim against Denver. He missed all seven of his first-half shots and went to halftime with two points, both from free throws, his lowest first half since his first season in Oklahoma City.
“I saw that they had subbed, so I was just like, we should sub too. I feel like you always treat the game with respect.”— Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
“That was his substitution … of all the things I admire about him, that's toward the top of the list. It shows tremendous class as a competitor.”— Thunder coach Mark Daigneault

“He's never sprained an ankle and missed the rest of a game early on. He's never gotten ejected early on. Just the physical and mental endurance that it takes to do something like that is extremely impressive.”— Chet Holmgren
Jalen Williams, who led the Thunder with 21, said Gilgeous-Alexander was already past it in the locker room. “He walked in the locker room, he said, ‘I’ll just restart.'”
“God willing, I have many more games to start another streak. So it's like, it's not the end of the world.”— Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
The new count started at zero on Thursday. To match the old one, Gilgeous-Alexander would need every remaining game this season and most of the next. Chamberlain’s record stood for 63 years before he passed it.
