WASHINGTON (Oct. 14, 2026) — John Wall is coming back to Washington Wizards broadcasts. Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) announced Wednesday that the five-time All-Star will work as a game analyst on select Wizards telecasts this season and appear across the network’s studio coverage, starting with the home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks at Capital One Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The same release laid out the local TV and radio plan for 2026-27: 76 regular-season Wizards games will air on MNMT, with every preseason and regular-season game carried locally except the exclusive national broadcasts.

Who is calling Wizards games

Chris Miller stays on play-by-play with Drew Gooden as color analyst. Chase Hughes, who has covered the team on MNMT’s digital and on-air platforms, is the new sideline reporter. Brendan Haywood will work a package of games as color analyst, and Wall will join select broadcasts. Opening night also gets a special one-hour pregame show from the network’s Vanda Pharmaceuticals Studio.

“From the Wizards’ highly anticipated opener at Capital One Arena to John Wall’s return to our broadcast team, the 2026-27 season is filled with can’t-miss moments for Wizards fans,” MNMT general manager Friday Abernethy said in the release.

Reports said Wall will work roughly 20 games with Monumental. Wall, who announced his retirement in 2025, spent last season as a studio analyst on Amazon’s NBA on Prime coverage. He also runs basketball operations at Howard University and remains the franchise’s all-time assists leader with 5,282.

Six national TV games

The Wizards also listed six nationally televised games for the season:

  • Mon., Nov. 9 — Washington at Detroit (Peacock)
  • Tue., Nov. 24 — Boston at Washington (NBC)
  • Wed., Dec. 16 — Washington at Boston (ESPN)
  • Tue., Jan. 12 — Washington at Philadelphia (NBC)
  • Sat., Feb. 27 — Washington at Utah (Prime Video)
  • Mon., Mar. 1 — Washington at Phoenix (Peacock)

Studio shows and radio

Wizards Pregame Live runs 30 minutes before each MNMT game and Wizards Postgame Live runs an hour after. Wes Hall returns as host, with Wall, Jason Smith, Christy Winters Scott, Tony Massenburg, Jimmy Patsos and Greivis Vásquez in the analyst rotation, plus appearances from Ron Thompson and Glenn Consor. Fans can stream MNMT games through a TV provider login or a Monumental+ subscription.

On radio, all 82 regular-season games air on the 10-station Wizards Radio Network, with 106.7 The Fan, 980 AM and 1500 AM as flagships. Dave Johnson begins his 30th season as the radio voice of the Wizards alongside analyst Glenn Consor, who enters his 20th.

Washington’s new-look core of Trae Young, Anthony Davis and No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa gets its first regular-season test with Wall on the call. For the roster, depth chart and full schedule, see the Wizards team page.
