Lack of a traditional point guard is a source of growing frustration for the Suns, Chris Haynes says

Some members of the Suns are concerned that the starting lineup does not feature a traditional point guard to organize the offense, and there is growing frustration in the locker room over it, Chris Haynes said Thursday on The Association.

Phoenix, off to a 1-2 start, is starting Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. Booker has served as the Suns’ de facto point guard since the start of last season and leads the team with 5.3 assists per game through three games, while Collin Gillespie is second at 4.3 per game off the bench. The Suns average 25.3 assists per game, 19th in the league.

There is no indication the front office is moving to address the issue, Haynes said, with the hope that a committee approach at the position will work despite the early-season frustration.
