Malik Beasley has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges stemming from the Justice Department’s investigation into illegal sports gambling, Mike Vorkunov reported. Beasley will submit his plea on December 9 in Brooklyn.

Beasley was indicted in June on sports betting, money laundering and wire fraud charges and initially pleaded not guilty. According to the indictment, he allegedly manipulated prop bets on his performance in four games during the 2023-24 season while with the Bucks: against the Cavaliers on January 26, 2024, the Hornets on February 27, 2024, the Clippers on March 10, 2024, and the Nets on March 21, 2024.

Word of plea negotiations between Beasley and Justice Department lawyers surfaced Friday, when court records indicated he intended to change his plea. His lawyer, Steve Haney, said at the time that Beasley had not made a final decision.

Beasley appeared in 79 games with Milwaukee in 2023-24, then signed with the Pistons and averaged 16.3 points in all 82 games in 2024-25, finishing second in Sixth Man of the Year voting. He was poised to re-sign with Detroit on a three-year, $42 million deal before the team learned he was under federal investigation. He did not play in the NBA last season.

Former NBA veteran Ed Davis was also indicted and allegedly helped lead the scheme. According to the indictment, Beasley fell into gambling debt and took a loan from Davis to repay what he owed. Davis and Paolo Zamorano, Beasley’s former agent, have pleaded not guilty; the three other men charged in the case have pleaded or will plead guilty.
