DETROIT — Oct. 14, 2026 — The Detroit Pistons open the 2026-27 season at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with a full Opening Day presented by Ticketmaster built around plaza parties, a Fall Fan Fest and a national TV tip against the Boston Celtics. Tip is 3 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, the first game of Opening Night’s national tripleheader, according to the team’s Opening Day guide.

Detroit’s slot is the early national window in American Express NBA Tip-Off week. WhyNBA already has the broader Tip-Off TV schedule; this guide is the in-arena day for fans heading downtown.

Morning plaza: store, blue carpet and legends

The plaza opens at 10 a.m. The Team Store runs 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with no ticket required, and the Custom Shop will personalize Royal Swingman jerseys for same-day pickup, the Pistons said. Restaurants open at 11 a.m.

From 11 a.m. to noon, the blue carpet player arrivals headline the plaza. Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas and Jerry Stackhouse are scheduled to interact with fans and sign. Bring something light to sign and plan for a crowd along the carpet line.

Noon–2 p.m.: Arena Live Fall Fan Fest

Arena Live Fall Fan Fest fills the plaza from noon to 2 p.m. with a petting zoo, Blake’s Cider Mill donuts and cider, face painting, airbrush tattoos, photo ops and a Pistons Academy skills challenge. The DPSCD All-City Marching Band performs in the plaza and again pregame, so families can treat the afternoon as a full outing before doors.

Doors, giveaways and game-day perks

  • 1:30 p.m.: Doors open. The first 2,000 fans through Ticketmaster receive Thunder Sticks.
  • 1:30–2:30 p.m.: Fifty percent off concessions via the Pistons app Mobile Wallet.
  • By 2:55 p.m.: Be in your seats for pregame giveaways and autograph chances.
  • At seats: Every fan gets an Opening Day T-shirt presented by Michigan First Credit Union.
  • T-shirt toss: One fan wins a $1,000 Team Store shopping spree from owner Tom Gores.
  • Third quarter: One fan is selected for a half-court shot with a chance at $100,000.

Tickets and how to follow updates

Limited tickets remain through Pistons.com/tickets or by calling 313-PISTONS. Day-of updates land at Pistons.com/openingday.

ClickOnDetroit and DBusiness covered the team’s Oct. 13 announcement of the plaza schedule and giveaways; the timetable above matches the official Opening Day page the Pistons posted for Oct. 20.

Arrive early if you want the Team Store window, the blue carpet or Fan Fest stations without rushing doors. Once you’re inside, load the Pistons app for the Mobile Wallet concession deal, find your seats before 2:55 and settle in for Celtics–Pistons on Opening Night.
