San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox is in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s preseason home game against the Phoenix Suns, the San Antonio Express-News’ Tom Orsborn reported. It will be Fox’s first action of the preseason after he sat the Spurs’ first three exhibitions.

Fox had been listed as questionable. He missed the opener against Atlanta with what the team called general soreness, then sat at Phoenix and at Utah with what coach Mitch Johnson described as general tightness in his hip. Johnson had said the issue was “nothing serious or long term” and that San Antonio did not want to push it.

Starters back together

Dylan Harper is also in the starting lineup, Orsborn reported, and Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell will play after resting in Monday’s 119-109 loss at Utah. Wednesday is the first time this preseason San Antonio has had Fox on the floor with the group it plans to open the season with.

Fox’s hip tightness is separate from the right high ankle sprain he said this week he played through during the Spurs’ playoff run last spring. He said that ankle healed over the summer.

Who is still out

Forward Carter Bryant, who rolled his right ankle in Saturday’s loss at Phoenix, was also questionable, but he has been cleared to play Wednesday, The Spot Up Shot’s Paul Garcia reported. Tobias Harris remains out for the rest of the preseason with a left calf strain, and first-round rookie Jayden Quaintance is out indefinitely as he rehabs from knee surgery.

Phoenix is resting much of its rotation, including Devin Booker. Tipoff at Frost Bank Center is 7 p.m. CT (3 a.m. Thursday in Cairo). The Spurs, 0-3 in the preseason, have one exhibition left on Friday before they open the regular season against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 20.
