The Phoenix Suns plan to keep point guard Jamaree Bouyea on the roster into the regular season, according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7, who noted that the 27-year-old has played well during the preseason.

Bouyea’s minimum-salary contract will remain non-guaranteed until January even if he is on the opening-night roster.

Gambadoro expects the Suns to carry 14 players on standard contracts to open the season rather than the maximum 15. That choice could put wing Haywood Highsmith’s spot in jeopardy. Gambadoro also suggested that Duop Reath’s Exhibit 10 contract could be converted to a two-way deal.

Reath, 30, remains two-way eligible because he has only three years of NBA experience. Head coach Jordan Ott said this week that Reath’s floor-spacing gives the Suns a different look at center, while still asking him to crash the glass and pressure the ball.

Phoenix must finalize its regular season roster before opening night.
