Minnesota will hand out items at the door on 12 nights at Target Center this season. Four of them are Kevin Garnett figurines, each tied to a chapter of his career, and they build toward his No. 21 jersey retirement against Boston on Sunday, Feb. 28. Every fan in the building that night gets a Garnett T-shirt.

The run starts at the home opener on Sunday, Oct. 25, against Toronto, when every seat gets a jersey rally towel presented by Sezzle. It ends with a poster on Fan Appreciation Night, Sunday, April 11, against Houston. Anthony Edwards gets a figurine in January, and LaMelo Ball and Jaden McDaniels get bobbleheads later on.

Theme nights and ticket-package items

  • Celebration nights: Noche Latina (Mon, Nov. 2, Bucks), Military Appreciation (Thu, Nov. 12, Mavericks), Native American Heritage Night with Treasure Island and Prairie Island (Tue, Nov. 17, Trail Blazers), NBA Paint Night (Thu, Nov. 19, Knicks), Pride Night (Mon, Dec. 21, Suns), Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Mon, Jan. 11, Cavaliers), AAPI Night (Sun, Jan. 31, Suns), Black Excellence Night (Sat, Feb. 6, Heat) and Inspiring Women Night with nVent (Mon, March 8, Pelicans).
  • Baseball jerseys: Most of those heritage nights also have a themed baseball jersey sold as part of a special ticket package.
  • Throwback hats: Sam Mitchell (Wed, Oct. 28, Warriors), Ricky Rubio (Thu, Dec. 31, Nuggets, 3 p.m.) and Latrell Sprewell (Wed, Jan. 27, Nuggets).
  • Other package items: a Sesame Street backpack (Nov. 14, Bulls), a Paint Night blanket (Nov. 19), a Star Wars T-shirt (Jan. 3, Spurs) and a cribbage board (Jan. 11), plus Family Meal Deal and Wolves Night Out packs and two youth clinics.

How tickets work

The free giveaways only require a ticket. The package items are different: they come only with tickets bought through the matching offer on the team’s promotions page. They can’t be combined with other discounts, and they can’t be resold or transferred. Season ticket holders get a limited shot at some of those items in the team app, under the Pack Perks tab. Groups of 10 or more book through the team’s group events office at 612-673-1234.

Target Center’s menu also changes this season. Executive chef David Fhima is adding beef empanadas, a Reuben-loaded baked potato, Korean-style bolognese bowls, egg rolls filled with chicken or steak, and dirty sodas, all starting at the home opener. The team’s Hunt the Cup package is another way into the building. Every date, broadcast and score is on the Timberwolves team page.

What comes next

Minnesota opens the season at Miami on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. CT (Game Center). The towel night against Toronto follows on Sunday, Oct. 25 (Game Center).
