The Portland Trail Blazers signed forward Caleb Houstan to an Exhibit 10 contract, with the plan for him to join the Rip City Remix, Portland’s G League affiliate, according to The Oregonian.

Houstan, the 32nd overall pick in the 2022 draft, spent three seasons with the Magic and one with the Hawks, appearing in 186 regular-season games. He shot 37.8 percent from three-point range while averaging 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game.

The 22-year-old was in training camp with the Pelicans on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 deal before New Orleans waived him earlier this week. With four years of NBA service, Houstan is no longer eligible for a two-way contract, but the Exhibit 10 deal makes him eligible for a bonus worth up to $91,000 on top of his G League salary if he spends at least 60 days with the Remix.

No corresponding roster move was required, as Portland had three open spots on its 21-man camp roster. If Houstan impresses with Rip City, he could emerge as a call-up candidate for a Blazers team thin on reliable forward depth behind starters Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara.
