SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 14, 2026) — The Golden State Warriors said Wednesday that Kristaps Porzingis will remain out indefinitely because of the same health-related matter that kept him out of training camp and the team’s first five preseason games.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon Pacific time, the club said Porzingis returned to its practice facility on Tuesday and met with general manager Mike Dunleavy and Dr. Rick Celebrini, the team’s vice president of player health and performance. The Warriors said the specific contents of that meeting will stay private.

Porzingis will stay around the team while he is out. Golden State said an update on his status, including a possible return to practice, his playing status or a timeline, will come “when available and appropriate.”

Porzingis: “Health is wealth”

Porzingis answered on social media minutes after the team’s release. “I’m working with doctors and experts to figure out how to be fully back to good health asap. Honestly, I’m getting better and better. I just have to stay patient, and I believe I’ll be feeling great again soon,” he wrote.

“It has definitely been frustrating dealing with some health stuff that you can’t exactly pinpoint, on top of injuries throughout my career, so it has added up for sure, but we will get through it. Health is wealth. Thank you for all the support.”

What it means for Golden State

The statement is the first time the Warriors have formally said Porzingis is out indefinitely. Until now, coach Steve Kerr had only said there was no timeline. With the regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers set for Oct. 21, Golden State now heads into the final week of the preseason without its starting center on any schedule.

Porzingis averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 32 games with the Atlanta Hawks and Warriors last season after the February trade that brought him to the Bay Area. He re-signed with Golden State in late June.

Golden State’s current depth chart lists Al Horford behind Porzingis at center, with Draymond Green and Charles Bassey also in the frontcourt rotation.
