Seven clips from Phoenix's home opener: Devin Booker's 43-point night, Luke Kennard's first basket as a Sun and the 45-point third quarter that settled it.

The Phoenix Suns beat the Golden State Warriors 131-122 on Saturday, October 24, at Mortgage Matchup Center, and Devin Booker carried the night with 43 points on 17-of-25 shooting, seven rebounds and seven assists. The Suns said no player in franchise history had scored more in a home opener. Phoenix took a 57-54 lead into halftime, then poured in 45 points in the third quarter to go up 102-92. Golden State, playing without Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Brandin Podziemski and Al Horford, got 26 from Yaxel Lendeborg and 25 off the bench from De’Anthony Melton, but never led by more than seven. These seven clips follow the game from Booker’s fast start to the final horn. Every number is in the Game Center.
A contested jumper and then a run-out dunk told everyone how the night would go. Booker attacked early instead of waiting for the game to come to him, which is exactly what a team coming off a lopsided opening loss needed from its leader.
Kennard missed the opener with left knee tendinopathy and was cleared just before this one. He finished with 11 points on 3-of-5 from deep and a plus-15 in 18 minutes, the kind of bench shooting Phoenix lacked in game one.
Gillespie ran the second unit with nine assists, and this alley-oop to Bridges was the prettiest of them. Phoenix ended with 33 assists to Golden State’s 24 and made 36 of 49 two-point tries.
Green’s slam came in the middle of the stretch that broke the game open. The Suns outscored the Warriors 45-38 in the third quarter and turned a three-point halftime edge into a 10-point cushion.
Booker had been living in the midrange, so two straight pull-ups from deep were the heat check that pushed him to 36. He made only two threes all night, and both came here, when Golden State was still trying to hang around.
Dunn played under 13 minutes, but this sprint-back rejection was one of his two blocks and a reminder of why Phoenix values his defense. Stops like this kept the Warriors from turning a late push into a real threat.
The first home win of the season drew a loud building and a long night for Golden State, which dropped to 0-3. Booker’s 43 came in just over 36 minutes.
The Suns visit the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, October 26, at 8:00 pm ET (Game Center). The Warriors are at the Denver Nuggets the same night at 10:00 pm ET (Game Center). For the full story of Booker’s night, read our game report.
