The Hornets and Brandon Miller agreed to a five-year rookie-scale extension worth $209 million on Monday night, beating the 6 p.m. ET deadline by roughly an hour, according to Shams Charania, citing agents AJ Vaynerchuk and Joey Middleton.

Miller, the No. 2 pick in the 2023 draft, was the headline case among 15 unsigned 2023 first-round picks entering deadline day. He averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists last season while shooting 38.3% from three.

The deal makes Miller the seventh 2023 first-rounder to extend this fall, joining Victor Wembanyama (Spurs, max, about $255.2 million), Amen Thompson (Rockets, $208 million), Keyonte George (Jazz, $157.5 million with incentives), Ausar Thompson (Pistons, $155 million), Cason Wallace (Thunder, $139 million) and Brandin Podziemski (Warriors, $110 million).
