Nikola Jokic reached 200 regular-season triple-doubles in New Orleans in his 814th game. Here is every season, the greats he passed, how much faster he got there than Russell Westbrook and the nine he still needs.

It was his second triple-double in four games this season. The first came four nights earlier against the same Pelicans, a 35-point, 15-rebound, 10-assist night in a 141-135 overtime win in Denver.
“No, no, no. If I break his official record, then I'm going to text him.”— Jokic, asked on October 24 whether he would text Westbrook
Photo by MhcL947, resizedJokic was a second-round pick, No. 41 in 2014, and had none as a rookie. He averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 80 games in 2015-16.
The first came on February 3, 2017, against Milwaukee: 20 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. He finished that season with six.
The number grew with his role. He won MVP in 2020-21 with 16, again in 2021-22 with 19 and a third time in 2023-24 with 25. In between came 29 in 2022-23, the season Denver won its first title.

He does it as a center, running Denver’s offense from the elbow and the post.
That works out to roughly one triple-double every four games across his whole career, rookie year included. Robertson had 181 in 1,040 games, Westbrook 209 in 1,301 and Magic Johnson 138 in 906.
Image by Denver Nuggets, resizedThe record became a near-term target over the last two seasons. Jokic had 34 triple-doubles in 70 games in 2024-25, when he averaged 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists. He then had 34 more in 65 games in 2025-26.
Denver went 24-10 in those games in each of the two seasons.
Westbrook’s best years came in the same kind of bunches: 42 in his 2016-17 MVP season, still the single-season record, and 38 in 2020-21 with Washington.
Jokic needs nine more triple-doubles to tie Westbrook, who retired this summer with 209, and 10 to pass him. Counting the playoffs, he already leads 223 to 221.
At last season’s pace, about one every 1.9 games, 10 more would take roughly 19 games.
“I'm looking forward to breaking his record.”— Jokic, in an NBA career highlight video released on October 9
Westbrook took the record from Robertson on May 10, 2021, after Robertson had held it since 1974. Jokic has been closing in on it for two seasons, and he is now nine away.
Denver is 2-2 and plays at Phoenix on Friday night, which is 4 a.m. Saturday in Cairo.
