Chapter 1

Forty-four in Minneapolis

The Warriors arrived at Target Center on Wednesday with a 1-3 record. The Timberwolves were playing their first game without Anthony Edwards, who was set for a cleanup procedure on his right knee.

Golden State kept running high screens for Curry to pull Rudy Gobert away from the basket. Curry scored 19 points in the second quarter and finished with 44 in a 119-114 win.

Chapter 2

The count starts at 35

Curry turned 35 on March 14, 2023. He needed one game to start the list. The next night, at the Clippers, he scored 50 on 20-of-28 shooting. The Warriors still lost, 134-126.

Six weeks later he scored 50 more in Game 7 of the first round at Sacramento, a 120-100 win. That one does not count here: the record covers regular-season games only.

56 in Orlando, 49 in San Antonio

All three in 2024-25 came after the All-Star break, and all three were road wins: 56 at Orlando with 12 threes, 40 at Brooklyn and 52 at Memphis, again with 12 threes.

Early in 2025-26 he scored 42 in an overtime win over Denver, then went to San Antonio twice in three days and scored 46 and 49. Both were Warriors wins. A month later he had 48 at Portland.

The Warriors went 10-5 in those games. Four of the five losses came in 2022-23 and 2023-24, including the 60-point night in Atlanta. Golden State has won seven of the last nine.

Curry also passed another mark on Wednesday: it was his 46th 40-point game since his 30th birthday, the most in NBA history.

Chapter 6

Thirty-nine for thirty-nine

The Warriors lost their first three games. Curry scored 23 at the Lakers and 24 against Memphis, then sat out the loss in Phoenix. In Denver on Monday he went 8 for 8 from the field, only the second game of his career without a miss. Two nights later came the 44.

One more 40-point game would give Curry the record outright. The Warriors host the Lakers on Friday, then face the Clippers and the Suns.

Curry is 38 and in his 18th season. LeBron James, who also has 15, is 41. Of the five players with the most 40-point games after 35, four are still playing: Curry, James, Durant and Harden. Michael Jordan is the only one who is retired.
