Chapter 1

75 points

The Washington Wizards scored 75 points on Saturday night at Paycom Center and lost 114-75 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. It is the lowest total by any team in the NBA this season, four points below the previous mark, the Charlotte Hornets’ 79 in Washington on Oct. 30.

Washington finished 29 of 98 from the field (29.6 percent) and 7 of 43 from three (16.3 percent). The Thunder, now 8-2, led by 21 at halftime and by 39 at the end. The Wizards fell to 4-6.

Chapter 2

132, then 75

Friday in Atlanta, an NBA Cup game, the Wizards scored 132 points and still lost 139-132. Saturday they scored 75. That is a 57-point drop from one night to the next on a back-to-back.

Through nine games Washington had been averaging 111.4 points. The 75 pulled that down to 107.8. Rookie AJ Dybantsa led the Wizards with 19 points. Alex Sarr had 15 points and 14 rebounds. A night after scoring 23 in his return to Atlanta, Trae Young finished with 4 points on 1-of-6 shooting.

Chapter 3

29 of 98

Washington missed 69 shots. Three rotation pieces — Trae Young (1 of 6), Tre Johnson (2 of 15) and Bilal Coulibaly (0 of 8) — combined for 8 points on 3-of-29 shooting. Coulibaly did not score. Johnson went 0 of 7 from three. Sarr was 1 of 9 from three. Kyshawn George was 5 of 16 overall and 2 of 8 from deep for 14 points.

The Wizards were 10 of 15 from the line. They grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and still could not outscore a Thunder team that sat Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after 28 minutes and 45 seconds.

“We were trying to play the right way offensively. Sometimes you just don’t have nights when you make them, and tonight was one of those nights.”

Chapter 5

The fewest since January 2018

Washington had not scored 75 or fewer points since Jan. 22, 2018, a 98-75 loss at Dallas. In every regular-season game from that night through 2025-26, the Wizards’ lowest total was 80 — a home loss to Phoenix in 2021-22.

The twist: the previous season low belonged to a game Washington played. On Oct. 30 the Wizards beat Charlotte 95-79, and that 79 stood as the NBA’s lowest total until Saturday. Eight days later they were the team on the other side of the list.

Chapter 6

Monday in Detroit

Anthony Davis did not play Saturday. He was listed as inactive with a right ankle sprain, the same injury that kept him out of Friday’s game in Atlanta. The Wizards now head to Detroit for a 7 p.m. ET tip on Monday, Nov. 9 (2 a.m. Tuesday, Cairo time).

They are 4-6, with a 75-point floor on the season log and a 132-point ceiling two nights apart. The shots will have to start falling somewhere in between.

75 points. 29.6 percent shooting. A 57-point drop from Friday night, and the fewest the Wizards have scored since January 2018. The lowest total in the league this season now belongs to Washington — and Detroit is next on Monday.
