The Philadelphia 76ers ruled Jaylen Brown out of Friday night’s home game against the New York Knicks with left patellar tendinopathy, the NBA’s official injury report confirmed Friday evening.

Brown had been listed as questionable with left knee soreness on Thursday evening and was downgraded to doubtful on Friday afternoon. Head coach Nick Nurse told reporters that Brown experienced knee soreness after Wednesday’s win in Indiana and could not take part in Friday’s shootaround, per PHLY Sports’ Kyle Neubeck. Nurse said he was leaning toward starting Dean Wade in Brown’s place, with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope the other option.

Brown, 30, has averaged 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 36.4 minutes through five games in his first season with Philadelphia.
