The Portland Trail Blazers announced Friday that Ja Morant has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his left hamstring after undergoing imaging and will be reevaluated in four weeks.

Morant suffered the injury in Thursday’s 124-103 home loss to his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies, leaving early in the fourth quarter after feeling a twinge. He finished with 14 points in 23 minutes.

That timeline suggests Morant will be sidelined for most or all of November. He had looked more like his old self in his first three games with Portland, all wins, averaging 16.3 points and 6.3 assists in 27.0 minutes per game on .588/.444/.833 shooting, after injuries limited him to 79 total appearances over his final three seasons with the Grizzlies, who traded him to the Blazers in June.

Portland (3-1) is also without guard Shaedon Sharpe, who has a torn meniscus. Veteran Jrue Holiday appears likely to move into the starting lineup alongside Damian Lillard while Morant is out.
