Jaylen Brown says he never demanded a trade from the Boston Celtics and never presented them with a list of ultimatums, publicly disputing claims Brian Scalabrine made on his SiriusXM NBA Radio show this week. Brown addressed the claims himself after Philadelphia’s win at Indiana on Wednesday, according to reports.

“I’ve never had any issues with Scal. I love Scal,” Brown said. “But I guess he’s doing what he has to do. I can understand why he feels the need to do that. But I have no interest of letting any false allegations follow me into my next chapter here in Philadelphia. I never demanded a trade. I never made a list of ultimatums. None of the sort. None of that is true.”

Scalabrine said Monday that he had heard Brown demanded to be traded, shared a “list of demands” with the Celtics and was rooting to be sent to Milwaukee. He walked parts of that back on NBC Sports Boston later Monday, saying Brown “technically” did not demand a trade and that he had “no idea” what Brown asked of the team, while insisting Brown presented the Celtics with an ultimatum of some sort. A representative for Brown had already denied the account before Brown spoke.

Brown, 30, was traded from Boston to Philadelphia in the deal that sent Paul George to the Celtics (how the swap happened, step by step). He said he is leaving further questions about the trade for another time: “During the season, I’m just going to focus on what’s in front of me.”
