The Brooklyn Nets requested waivers on guard Dion Brown and big man Dain Dainja on Sunday, according to the team’s announcement reported by Nets Wire’s Sharif Phillips-Keaton. The moves remove two camp players as Brooklyn continues preparing its regular-season roster.

RealGM also reported the waivers and said both players are expected to join the Long Island Nets. That is an expected G League destination, not a confirmed Long Island signing in the reports.

Two summer-league players leave camp

Nets Wire reported that both Brown and Dainja played for Brooklyn’s summer-league team. Dainja was invited to training camp following that evaluation, while Brown joined later on an Exhibit 10 agreement.

Dainja played college basketball at Memphis before going undrafted in 2025. Brown went undrafted in 2026 after a college career that included UMBC, Boston College and Saint Louis, according to Nets Wire.

Neither player has been announced as signing elsewhere in the reports. RealGM’s expectation that they will move to Long Island points toward a possible development path within Brooklyn’s organization rather than a place on the NBA roster.

Brooklyn keeps evaluating its roster

The waivers come with preseason games still available for the Nets to assess their remaining players. They are roster moves, not injury updates, and the reports do not provide a reason beyond the club’s continuing camp evaluation.

Brooklyn also has a separate rookie availability story: Mikel Brown Jr. is set for his preseason debut at Miami. Mikel Brown Jr. and Dion Brown are different players.
