Holmgren is off the report for Oklahoma City's opener in San Antonio, the Knicks list nobody, and Philadelphia takes three questionable reserves into Madison Square Garden.

Chet Holmgren is cleared for opening night. The Oklahoma City Thunder left him off the NBA’s official injury report for Tuesday’s season opener at the San Antonio Spurs, after a quadriceps contusion kept him out of all five preseason games. The Oklahoman’s Justin Martinez confirmed Monday evening that Holmgren is available.
The 9:15 p.m. ET version of Monday’s report covers all three games of Tuesday’s tripleheader. The biggest question marks belong to the Philadelphia 76ers: three of their key reserves are questionable for the game at Madison Square Garden. The New York Knicks did not list a single player.
Holmgren’s status had been open all weekend. On Saturday, Mark Daigneault said everyone had practiced in some form, but he would not say how much Holmgren did and pointed to Monday’s report instead (our earlier story). Holmgren is not on that report, so Oklahoma City can go back to its normal frontcourt. Isaiah Hartenstein and rookie Aday Mara will not have to absorb extra minutes in a rematch of last season’s Western Conference finals. Holmgren averaged 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 69 games last season.
Three Thunder players are listed as out, and none of them is a surprise. Otega Oweh (right Achilles repair) is out for the season. Thomas Sorber is listed with right knee surgery and Nikola Topić with low back surgery.
San Antonio will open without Tobias Harris (left calf strain), as expected (details here). Jayden Quaintance (right knee surgery) is also out.
None of Philadelphia’s five projected starters is listed. The bench is a different story.
Anfernee Simons is questionable with left hamstring tightness. He did not play in the preseason but took part in the Sixers’ last few practices. When he was asked Monday whether he expected to play, he said, “I can’t confirm or deny that,” according to Philadelphia reporter Adam Aaronson. Simons is set to be the team’s top perimeter scorer off the bench.
Dean Wade is questionable with a left ankle sprain. He turned the ankle in Friday’s preseason finale against the Celtics and sat out practice on both Sunday and Monday, though he did some work on his own at the far end of the floor on Monday.
Adem Bona is questionable with a left foot sprain. He hurt the foot in international play over the summer and missed the whole preseason. With Ariel Hukporti out for the season after rupturing his right Achilles, Bona is the front-runner for backup center minutes. He said Sunday the call would “come down to the coaches and the medical staff, but it’s day-to-day.”
Two Sixers are ruled out. Dominick Barlow is listed with a low back stress reaction. Imaging showed a lumbar bone stress response, and he will be re-evaluated in two weeks (full story). Tacko Fall is out with a left quadriceps strain. The team had earlier described his injury as a hip strain.
The Knicks are fully healthy for banner night. Josh Hart would not commit to the opener over the weekend while Mike Brown played down his ankle issue, and he is not listed. When Brown was asked about Hart on Monday, he answered for the whole roster: “Yeah, no, no, everybody’s healthy. Nobody was held out of any portion of practice.”
The afternoon opener has the lightest report. Boston lists only Devin Carter, who is out with an illness. He was diagnosed with mononucleosis over the weekend and has no timetable (our report).
For Detroit, Taurean Prince is questionable for personal reasons. Two-way players Isaac Jones and Ugonna Onyenso are listed as out and Elijah Harkless as questionable, all three under the G League two-way designation rather than for an injury.
Teams will keep updating the report through Tuesday. The Sixers’ trio of Simons, Wade and Bona are the main names to watch before tip-off. Follow each game in its Game Center: Celtics at Pistons, 76ers at Knicks and Thunder at Spurs. Every team’s latest status is on the injuries page.
