Opening Day and how tickets work

The opener is a daytime event. The arena plaza opens at 10 a.m., players walk a blue carpet at 11, and a fan fest with a petting zoo, cider-mill doughnuts and a skills challenge runs from noon to 2 p.m. Doors open at 1:30, and concessions are half price for the first hour with a pass in the team app. Every fan gets the Opening Day shirt, the first 2,000 get Thunder Sticks, and Isiah Thomas and Jerry Stackhouse will sign autographs. One fan gets a half-court shot for $100,000 in the third quarter.

The giveaways need only a ticket for that game. Tickets and suites for every listed night are sold through the team’s ticketing site and its 313-PISTONS line Opener seats are limited. New on the menu: a filet mignon sandwich and Korean corn dogs; the team store now prints custom jerseys for same-day pickup. Every date and result is on the Pistons team page.

What comes next

Detroit opens the regular season against Boston on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 3 p.m. ET on NBC (Game Center). Los Pistons Night against Charlotte follows on Wednesday, Oct. 28 (Game Center).
