Development history added October 2, 2026.
Reaves’s route to the NBA included two seasons at Wichita State, a redshirt year at Oklahoma in 2018–19 and two seasons playing for the Sooners. At Wichita State he made 82 of 182 three-point attempts across his two seasons. Oklahoma then gave him a larger scoring and ball-handling role.
A clear example came at TCU on March 7, 2020. Oklahoma trailed by 18 at halftime, but Reaves scored 25 of his 41 points after the break and made the winning basket with 0.5 seconds remaining. He also had five rebounds, six assists and three blocks. That performance showed more of his offensive responsibility than a three-point percentage alone could capture.
The Los Angeles Lakers signed Reaves to a standard NBA contract on September 27, 2021, after he had initially joined on a two-way deal. That was an early-career roster milestone, not the date of a later extension.
On April 16, 2023, he scored 23 points in his NBA playoff debut at Memphis, including 14 in the fourth quarter. His final college NCAA Tournament appearance had also brought a substantial scoring contribution: 27 points on 11-for-17 shooting against Gonzaga in 2021. These individual games help trace his development beyond the season averages.
