Golden State and Brandin Podziemski have agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract extension, agent Bill Duffy told ESPN’s Shams Charania. The reported agreement gives the Warriors a long-term commitment from the 23-year-old guard before he could reach restricted free agency next summer.

NBA.com’s report and Anthony Slater’s ESPN story carried by TSN say the deal is fully guaranteed, with a mutual option in the fifth year and a trade kicker. These are reported contract terms attributed to his agent and ESPN, rather than a separate team announcement.

Extension begins after his rookie deal

Slater reports that Podziemski will earn $5.6 million in the coming season, the final year of his rookie contract. The extension starts in 2027-28 at $18.9 million. Keeping that first-year figure manageable was a priority for Golden State as it plans future roster spending, according to the report.

The fifth season of the extension is 2031-32. Slater describes its mutual option as allowing either side to opt in, but not opt out. It should not be described as a conventional player option or team option that permits one side to end the commitment.

Podziemski played in all 82 games last season, averaging 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 45.5 percent shooting, according to NBA.com. Golden State selected him 19th overall out of Santa Clara in 2023, and he is entering his fourth NBA season.

The agreement settles his reported extension terms, not every decision about the Warriors’ future roster. Any projected cap space still depends on other contracts and later moves, so this report does not treat an estimate of next summer’s spending room as guaranteed.
