The Brisbane Bullets announced on October 13 that former NBA guard Raul Neto has signed as an injury replacement player for Arnas Velicka. The NBL announcement says the move remains subject to league approval.

The Brazilian point guard brings experience from eight NBA seasons, Europe and international basketball. Both the club and league record 435 NBA regular-season appearances from 2015 to 2023, with Utah, Philadelphia, Washington and Cleveland.

A new stop as Neto prepares for Brazil duty

Neto said he was looking for a place to compete at a high level while preparing for Brazil’s upcoming FIBA window. He described the NBL as a new challenge and said he was looking forward to joining Will Weaver’s program.

Weaver, Brisbane’s head coach and president of basketball operations, said Neto’s NBA, European and international experience would add leadership to the team.

Approval and arrival come before a debut

The league report carries Brisbane’s announcement that Josh Duach will suit up for Thursday’s game while Neto makes his way to Australia. The signing announcement is not confirmation that Neto will play in that game, and it does not supply a firm debut date.

This is an Australian NBL injury-replacement move, not a return to an NBA roster. League approval and Neto’s arrival remain the next steps identified in the announcements.
