The Boston Celtics are converting guard Devin Carter from his Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal, according to reporter Michael Scotto.

Carter, 24, was the 13th overall pick in the 2024 draft out of Providence, but his rookie year was slowed by shoulder surgery. In 74 games over two seasons with the Sacramento Kings, he averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 14.8 minutes per game, shooting 40.1 percent from the field and 27.4 percent from three.

Looking to get below the tax line, Sacramento attached a second-round pick to Carter in a June trade that sent him to Atlanta, and the Hawks waived him in September. He then signed a camp deal with Boston.

Carter’s preseason was limited by an illness, but he impressed in his Celtics debut on October 8 against Cleveland, putting up 17 points, five rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes. Boston outscored the Cavaliers by 22 points with him on the floor.

The Celtics had an open two-way slot alongside Amari Williams and Dillon Mitchell, so no corresponding move is needed. Carter’s two-way contract pays $678,882 and makes him eligible to appear in up to 50 regular season games.
