Washington Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa, the first overall pick in this year’s draft, is uncertain for Wednesday’s regular season opener against Milwaukee after rolling his left ankle in Friday’s preseason finale, as first reported by ESPN on Saturday.

Dybantsa left the game against New Orleans in the second quarter after landing awkwardly on his left ankle following a midrange jump shot. He limped to the locker room and did not return, finishing with 12 points in 15 minutes.

Wizards coach Brian Keefe described the injury as a minor ankle sprain, but Dybantsa will undergo further evaluation before his status for the opener is determined.

The former BYU star scored in double figures in all four of his preseason appearances. He is projected to start at small forward for Washington, ahead of former lottery pick Bilal Coulibaly. The Wizards open the season at home against the Bucks on Wednesday night.
