Celtics waive four camp invitees, finalize roster

The Celtics have waived Hayden Gray, Milos Uzan, Gabe McGlothan and Tucker DeVries, per NBA.com’s transaction log. All four were in training camp on Exhibit 10 contracts.

Boston’s other camp invitee, Devin Carter, is having his Exhibit 10 deal converted to a two-way contract before the regular season begins. Once that conversion is official, the Celtics’ roster will be set for opening night with 17 players under contract, including 14 on standard deals.

The team has long been expected to leave an open spot on its 15-man standard roster, since carrying a 15th man would have pushed its salary above the luxury tax line.

All four players waived Saturday appeared in at least two preseason games, with Uzan (8.0 points in 14.1 minutes per game) and Gray (6.5 points and 4.0 assists in 15.7 minutes) putting up the strongest numbers in limited roles. The four are expected to report to the Maine Celtics in the G League, where their Exhibit 10 deals make them eligible for bonuses worth $91K apiece for spending at least 60 days with Boston’s affiliate.
