D’Angelo Russell has agreed to join the Shanghai Sharks, according to reports published Wednesday, setting up a move to China after 11 NBA seasons.

Shanghai beat reporter Xue Sijia reported the agreement, while reporter Song Xiang separately reported that the club had signed the 30-year-old guard. The reports reviewed did not establish the contract’s value or length.

Memphis waived Russell on September 25, days before training camp. The Grizzlies had acquired him from Washington in July through a six-team trade.

His most recent NBA appearances came with Dallas. Russell averaged 10.2 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 26 games for the Mavericks last season before a trade to Washington, where he did not play.

The Lakers selected Russell second overall in 2015. He became an All-Star with Brooklyn in 2019 and also played for Golden State and Minnesota before returning to Los Angeles for a second stint.
